HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) enhances the body’s natural healing process through oxygen inhalation in a hyperbaric chamber where atmospheric pressure is controlled.
The concept of hyperbaric oxygen is pretty simple: the gases in the air get thinner with less atmospheric pressure (higher altitude) and become denser with more atmospheric pressure (lower altitude or diving underwater.) Hyperbaric oxygen simulates what would happen if you were to inhale oxygen underwater at a higher pressure. In essence, with HBOT, you breathe in more oxygen per breath—up to three times as much! This means three times as much oxygen can be dissolved into the bloodstream and help with anything that oxygen improves in the body, which is almost every single system.
HBOT delivers much-needed oxygen to all tissues of the body and supports healing and repair. Studies have shown that hyperbaric oxygen increases angiogenesis with improved blood flow to tissue, decreases inflammation, increases antioxidant defenses, inhibits telomere shortening and cellular senescence, regulates mitochondrial function, and stimulates stem cells.

What to Expect
Your session will take place in a private room. The chamber is cozy and soft; you may choose to sit in a comfortable chair or recline with pillows and blankets. When the session starts, you put on your choice of an oxygen mask or nasal cannula, and the pressure inside the chamber will slowly increase over 10 minutes. Your ears may pop while this happens. Towards the end of the session, the pressure will slowly decrease over 10 minutes. Most people feel energized after the session and report sleeping better that evening.
This is a “mild” hyperbaric oxygen chamber, with minimal risk of barotrauma or excess production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Modest modulation of oxygen levels in the body (rather than extreme) has been shown to enhance antioxidant defenses.
The chamber is large enough to accommodate 2 people and is wheelchair-accessible.
Our hyperbaric oxygen chamber delivers over 95% oxygen at 1.3 ATA.
For severe symptoms, we recommend daily 90-minute sessions 5 times a week for 2 - 3 weeks.
For less severe symptoms, we recommend 60-minute sessions 2 - 3 times a week.
